October 16, 2017- A sunny day and an audience got Wildflower, Kat, and Hollywood on the move for a couple of runs.  'Momma' has been on the mend with a new knee and has not been able to ride or do much exercising.  As a result, Wildflower has gotten a trifle, um, voluptuous.  Just more of the 'World's Most Perfect Filly' to be perfect.  As always she dispensed some kisses and nuzzles.
May 20, 2017- The 'World's Most Perfect Filly' turns EIGHT!  A change of diet has eliminated her soreness, and she has been back under saddle.  Although technically a grown lady, she still greets with kisses and doesn't mind a game of 'fetch'.
December 26, 2016 - It has been an eventful year for Wildflower - not all good, as she had a serious issue with muscle soreness that was finally diagnosed as magnesium deficiency.  A supplement has made her her responsive and happy self again.  Changing schedules and other activities have kept visits to a minimum, but she still gave me a few kisses when I saw her today.   It is terrible to realize more than a year has passed since the last update!  I hope to do better in 2017.

November 21, 2015 - It's About Time!  Not sure where the days have gone, but six months passed by with no visits to the baby!  Happily, Wildflower did not hold a grudge and gave me my kisses anyway.  She is almost regal these days, very poised and mature.  And of course, beautiful.  Momma Dianne reports she is doing very well under saddle, which is to be expected.  She also still likes her rump rubs.  I need to get over one morning when she and the other horses are feeling energetic.  This was a sunny, lazy afternoon where there was no running around at all.  It was nice just to see her and get a friendly nuzzle and a kiss.
May 21, 2015 - Seven Years Old! - Wildflower's birthday party was a day late due to schedule conflicts, but she enjoyed her carrots and apples all the same, and gave out kisses to the human guests.  Sweet and beautiful as ever, the World's Most Perfect Filly©  did not offer much in the way of photo ops today due to rain.  With Spring well under way, a serious photography session is long overdue!

December 14, 2014 - Winter Wonder - It's been a while since the World's Most Perfect Filly©  had her web site updated - seems her human webmaster was slacking off (actually out of the country).  However, Wildflower was very forgiving and still gave me kisses when I finally made it back out to George and Dianne's for a visit.  She has been busy, bringing home more show ribbons from Lexington that include a First Place and a Reserve Champion!

June 28, 2014 - FIRST SHOW! - The World's Most Perfect Filly©, had her first formal equine event today and was, of course, wonderful. Momma Dianne was encouraged to enter the Combined Test and SVDA Sanctioned Dressage Show at Lionheart Equestrian Center in Suffolk at the last minute. As a result, they ended up as the last horse and rider - aren't you supposed to save the best for last anyway? Both horse and rider did very well, though they also talked to each other the whole time. It was a beautiful day and a highly successful first show.

May 24, 2014 - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!  Though actually 4 days after, Momma Dianne decided to hold a special birthday party today (Saturday) for the World's Most Perfect Filly©.  We got together and had a breakfast for the humans and then some visiting and scritching for the equines.   Then it was time to 'unwrap' the big birthday gift- a new pasture!  Daddy George has been working on the front pasture this Spring, keeping it roped off while he weeded, seeded, and watered it into emerald green perfection.  Wildflower showed the most curiosity, and was the first to go through the previously blocked entrance.  However, in true 'Perfect Filly' tradition, she remembered Mother's Day and let Kat charge ahead to enter the pasture first.  All three horses enjoyed a quick romp through the fresh grass before settling down for some serious snacking.  It's nice to know this six year-old can share.

March 2, 2014 - Cantering!  Momma Dianne has a new instructor who has helped make great progress.  After just a few lessons, Dianne and Wildflower cantered around the ring for the first time.  The new saddle ahs proven comfortable for Wildflower and also provides a secure seat for Dianne, giving both of them confidence.  After her workout in the ring, the World's Most Perfect Filly© had a couple of good runs with her herd mates.  No doubt the sunny and warm weather helped with her good mood.  Hard to believe the 'baby' will be 6 years old in just a couple of months!  But she still gave me kisses, even before she found out I had carrots.

January 19, 2014 - Pretty as a Picture - Hard to believe it has been 5 months since the last time this page was updated!  We had a chilly but decent day, and all the horses hung close to the barn.  Wildflower took time to pose in the tack room window, probably hoping for a carrot - they all got several.  Mama Dianne has a new saddle for her that fits much better, and Wildflower is responding well.  Always eager to learn and to please, she remains Dianne's joy.  And I still get my kisses!
August 13, 2013 - Feeling Frisky!  A relatively cool August day made for a lot more activity in the pasture.  Wildflower was in the mood to move about some and even got in a few short gallops.  Sweet and responsive as ever, she came right over to Mama Dianne's whistle, and even 'danced' in the round pen to music.  The World's Most Perfect Filly© is living up to her moniker - hard to imagine any horse could be prettier!

May 20, 2013 - FIVE YEARS OLD!  Hard to believe it's been five years since that early morning phone call from Dianne - "It's started!"  Wildflower beat me there by about 15 minutes, but from that first photo (above right) to today's greeting (left) she remains the World's Most Perfect Filly©.  She has gotten more reserved as she matured - she lips my arm now instead of giving kisses, but still has the same warm and intelligent nature - mixed in with a hint of mischievousness.  We had a birthday party in the pasture with bowls of carrot and apple slices for the equines and carrot cake for the silly humans.  Happy Birthday, Wildflower!

April 24, 2013 - It's Spring!  And less than a month away from the World's Most Perfect Filly©'s birthday - she will be 5 years old on May 20th!  Mama Dianne did a lot of work with her today, working in the round pen and then moving outside to try riding in some open areas.  Knowledgeable equine folks are impressed with her brains and beauty when they see her, but we aren't at all surprised.  She was distracted by dinner tonight, but still showed off a bit.  After watching stable-mate Hollywood's high step demonstration, she performed her 'curtsey' to make sure we all knew who the real class act was.  Then it was time to get back to the hay!

February 17, 2013 - The World's Most Perfect Filly© was dressed for the cold today, looking quite lovely in her purple blanket.   She was happy to show off with mamma, playing with her ball and even letting her mamma bounce it off her back!  Then she calmly stepped over a long puddle, something most horses won't do without some serious cajoling.   No further issues with her back, and she is eager to please.

January 1, 2013 - There's no better way to start the new year than visiting with an old friend.  OK, she's not that old, but it's always great to visit with the World's Most Perfect Filly©.  I got lots of kisses, and she followed me around the pasture as I performed a 'Pootie Patrol.'  It was a cold and breezy, so there wasn't much action.  She has been responding well to training, and her back issues seem to be a thing of the past.    Hard to believe she is heading on to FIVE!

November 25, 2012 - It's been way too long since I was out to visit with The World's Most Perfect Filly©, but I am happy to report that she is just as perfect as ever.  Some concerns over back issues were resolved thanks to careful attention by Momma Dianne and Daddy George, and she is now making tremendous progress in riding.  Side passes, backing, and stopping on command are second nature, and she is enjoying working in the ring and performing trail riding tasks such as moving poles.  On this cool. clear autumn day she was understandably concerned about leaves covering blades of grass, but she took time out for kisses and a thorough inspection.

June 28, 2012 - Mamma Dianne has been working with Wildflower this summer,  though record heat has limited time in the ring.  My last visit was unplanned and I didn't have my camera!  Happily, 'Da' George has been keeping a record.

May 20, 2012 - Wildflower turns FOUR! - Hard to believe it's been that long since she was a tangle of legs in the straw.   Momma Dianne brought out the birthday watermelon, but was regrettably limited to the camera built into her cell phone.   The World's Most Perfect Filly ™  was gracious and even shared her treats with her stable mates.  However, a piece of rind got caught in her back teeth, causing her some annoyance for a while before it was finally cleared.   We think she might prefer apples and carrots next time.
April 17, 2012 - Back in the Saddle Again! - Momma Dianne got the OK from her physical therapist to get on a horse for the first time since her hip replacement.  She's been exercising carefully to make sure it all went right, and it did!  She started off on Cat, and knew right off that things were way better.  For the first time in longer than she could remember, there as no pain!   After getting warmed up on Cat, it was time for the 'mane' event - riding Wildflower!  The World's Most Perfect Filly ™  was ...  well... almost perfect.  She stood still for momma to mount, and responded amazingly well to someone who hadn't been on her in months.

April 8, 2012 - Expelled with Honors: The Worlds Most Perfect Filly™ did fine for her lessons, but her inquisitive and social nature ended up getting the better of her teacher.  After being found in a different horse's paddock every morning, she was 'invited' to leave a few days early.  A little disappointing on both sides, but Wildflower was glad to get home and Momma Dianne was glad to get her back.  It took a day for Hollywood and Cat to get used to having the baby back, but all was well in short order.    Her fourth birthday is just around the corner!

March 10, 2012 - No pictures, but Wildflower got her first 'official' report card:

"Your horse, which I call Flo, short for Flower, short for.....  is very smart, learning very quickly.  Once she understands what I want she does it almost flawlessly.  We have a very good bond now.  I am very impressed with her intelligence and her eagerness to please.  Actually one of the best attitudes of a young horse I have ever worked with."

Ah, but would else would you expect from the Worlds Most Perfect Filly™ ?

February 23, 2012 - Off to boarding school - Wildflower must have sensed something different was afoot (or ahoof) as she took a few minutes to coax into the trailer.  However, she complied with very little fuss and was great for the trip out to Eastern Shore.  Despite be separated from her 'family' and in relatively strange surroundings, she settled in well and seems to be taking this new experience all in stride.  It's probably harder on 'Momma' Dianne leaving her baby for a month.

February 22, 2012 - A big day is ahead for Wildflower - she heads off tomorrow to spend a month on the Eastern Shore with dressage trainer Richard Williams.  Momma Dianne is breaking in a new hip and can't work with her charges for a long time.  So instead of letting the World's Most Perfect Filly backslide into mere magnificence, she is sending Wildflower off for extended training.  She was very happy to see me and gave a lot of kisses.    I'll try to catch up with her over on Eastern Shore.

February 4, 2012 - A cool, damp day meant very little going on, though it was still unusually nice weather for February.  Wildflower inspected ranks, and then found some pasture area that needed weeding.  The World's Most Perfect Filly's work is never done...

January 1, 2012 - The world's most perfect filly starts off her fourth calendar year with visitors on a sunny, warm day.  Three cousins (belonging to Mamma Dianne's sister) came by for the first time and provided a lot of distractions.  But she still behaved well in a round-pen session despite the family visit.
.

November 13, 2011 - How time flies!  Almost three months passed this time, but Wildflower still came over to give me kisses on a warm Autumn day.  She and her stablemates were feeling lazy today, but did manage a brisk trot around the pasture for me.
.

August 22, 2011 - The World's Most Perfect Filly puts on a show of welcome - it's been almost 2 months since I last saw her, but she came running over to give me kisses.  Then she put on a wild and crazy show, dashing about the pasture and kicking up her heels.  Momma Dianne worked her in the ring on lead and under saddle, and she behaved... well, perfectly.  Then came a nice bath and brushing so that she shimmered in the sun.  At least until she found a nice patch of dirt to roll in.
.

June 25, 2011 - A lazy summer morning with Cat and Hollywood.   The 'baby' is looking all grown up these days, though she still comes over to give you a kiss.
.

May 21, 2011 - Wildflowers Big Day!! - Although her actual THIRD birthday was yesterday, Wildflower had her big event today.  Momma Dianne loaded her up on the trailer (in 3 minutes flat!) for her first long solo ride all the way to Eastern Shore, where they spent the afternoon with dressage trainer Richard Williams.  Although this was also her first time away from Cat and Hollywood, Wildflower handled the  two-hour ride (that was partly under water) calm and curious.  There were all sorts of new things to get used to when we got to the trainer's - a strange stall, different horses, and someone she'd never seen before as a trainer.  Momma Dianne started out first, and then it was Wildflower's turn to spend some time in the round pen.  She learned some new commands and got a good workout.  Then we had carrot cake cupcakes before loading up for the ride home.  This time it took... uh.. more than 3 minutes.  But, hey!  Even the World's Most Perfect Filly can have an off day, and this had been a full one for Wildflower.  She sure had a lot to tell Cat and Hollywood when she got home!
.

May 15, 2011 - WI\LDFLOWER'S FIRST SHOW! - Not only was the World's Most Perfect Filly well behaved on her first solo run, she brought home two second-place ribbons!  This was actually a dry run for even more interesting events for her birthday next weekend - a visit to a dressage trainer on Eastern Shore.
.

April 24, 2011 - Less than a month to go before the big THREE, and Wildflower has proven that the 'Terrible Two's' only apply to OTHER horses.  On a hot, lazy April afternoon, she lets me know all is forgiven for not visiting in almost two months.  Plenty of kisses and attention from the World's Most Perfect Filly (we really should trademark that) make for a wonderful time.   She also got a chance to check out a motorized Wildflower, named after her.
.

February 27, 2011 - Fast approaching three years old, the World's Most Perfect Filly remains sweet, smart, and beautiful.   As big or bigger than Cat, her mom, Wildflower will side-pass, back up, work through trail obstacles, and do ring work better than many adult horses.  Ever curious, she has to find out about everything, from cameras to cars to front-end loaders.
.

December 24, 2010 - Wildflower's second Christmas, and she has been a VERY good girl this year.  She looked very fetching in her purple blanket, and Santa brought her and her stablemates bowls of apples and carrots.  Mama took time out to give treats and even toss pears over the fence.  However even good girls sometimes get itchy, and there was this one spot under the blanket...
.

October 24, 2010 - It's been an eventful few months - Wildflower got her first shoes (on the back only for now)!  She's halfway through the 'Terrible Twos" and is still beautiful and sweet as ever.  She is learning to 'dance' with her human and is steady under saddle, and even goes up in the trailer without fuss.
.

August 16, 2010 - A hot, lazy summer afternoon - time to stand under the misters and nibble grass.  But who needs action when you are this beautiful?  27 months old and bigger than Momma Cat!
.

June 5, 2010 - Having a 'Ball'- On a nice sunny summer day, what's more fun than playing ball?  Wildflower loves her big red ball, and had some fun batting it around with Mom.
.

May 23, 2010 - Although Wildflower's actual birthday was a couple of days ago, her 'mamma' decided to throw a full-fledged birthday party today.  There were treats for horses and humans alike, and even an added equine party guest.  Wildflower and the other horses all got colorful 'party leis' to wear around their necks  and an equine equivalent of cake and ice cream in the form of a half-watermelon scooped out and filled with carrots and apples.

Wildflower passed a major goal yesterday - her owner, Dianne, saddled her up and got on her for the first time.  Many horses buck and kick the first time they get someone on their back, but the world's most perfect filly just stood there with no fuss.  A lot of folks talk about the 'Terrible Two's' for horses as well as children, but in this case it looks like it will be the Two's will be Terrific for Wildflower.

May 20, 2010

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

Wildflower somehow managed to decorate herself with buttercups, most likely anxious to look her best for her party this weekend.  The world's most perfect filly is now TWO YEARS OLD!    Her momma Dianne took this photo of her new chapeau - the height of edible fashion.

April 29, 2010 - Wildflower will be two years old in just a few weeks - the world's most perfect filly enjoys a pleasant spring day.
.

February 28, 2010 - A cool and windy winter day means not a lot of action, but when you are the world's most perfect filly, you don't have to show off all that much.   Though she would like to get those silly blue things off her forehooves.
.

January 16, 2010 - 20 months!  Wildflower is getting close to the 'Terrible Two's' but shows no signs of being anything but wonderful.  She  is already doing side passes and has a beautiful gait.  She seems to really enjoy working in the round pen and 'dancing' with momma Dianne.   Not that she isn't too dignified to go for a good roll in the mud when she gets the chance...  CLICK HERE to see a video of her moving in the round pen.
